Last year JAM Hong Kong rocked the Cyberport with a huge linup of local and international talent. See last year's performers below: Simon Webbe Born in Salford, Manchester, Simon started his career in the music business in 2001 when he joined the boyband ‘Blue’, who went on to be one of the UK and the World’s most successful boy bands. By 2005 Blue had enjoyed 40 No.1 singles world wide, sold 13 million records, had three sell out tours, were awarded two Brits including ‘Best Pop Act’, two MTV awards including MTV ASIA - ‘Best International Group’ and a host of other prestigious accolades.
2005 saw the release of the first album of his Solo career, ‘Sanctuary’ which went on to sell over 1 million copies worldwide and included 2 UK Top 5 singles, making it one of the most successful albums of the year. In 2007 Simon followed this up with the release of his second solo album ‘Grace’. Following the success of singles ‘Coming Around Again’ and ‘Grace’, Simon’s album sales have reached over 1 million copies.
Previously a model, Simon is also a keen and talented footballer, appearing in Sky’s The Match as well as being a huge UK fashion Icon. Following his solo music success Simon has also honed his acting skills, appearing in BAFTA nominated film ‘Rollin’ with the Nines’ in 2006 Simon is now working on his third album due for release this year.

Together with the rock solid rhythm section of Da Countess and Bubba they are: “El Destroyo, the band that ate Hong Kong” And they slam out a unique brand of Rockabilly that is as tough as mails, tight as a noose and raucous as a prison riot. Ghost Souljah Rising rap star Ghost Souljah is one of HK’s hottest unsigned artists with International appeal. Thrilling live audiences since the age of 12, Ghost has performed at premier venues and concert events such as Edge, The Cavern, JAM 2007 and the much celebrated charity event “CLOCK” representing the “Cancer Foundation” and performing his original music with the Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra to a sold out show. At 16 Ghost already holds two albums and a string of hit favourites with his on and offline fan base www.myspace.com/ghostsouljah852 Alex Mikic Singer/songwriter Alex Mikic started writing his soulful songs about a year ago, performing at “CLOCK” Charity Event; supporting the Children’s Heart Foundation to a sold out event. With the experience of being on stage from the age of 11, Alex has had the chance to perform his R&B/Pop/Club style songs at classy venues around Hong Kong such as The Cavern in Lan kwai Fong, EDGE and many others. At 16 years old, Alex already has an online collaboration album released and is currently working on his mixed tape to release to his growing fan base. http://www.myspace.com/reflex92 Art of Ash Formed in March 2008 by Vincent Ngai and Leni Marignier, the original drummer was James mason who was replaced in April by Terance Lai. Art of Ash has been featured at the DBMC YRock Party, JAM 2007 Music Festival and has performed in concerts for UNICEF. Art of Ash has an alternative rock style with catchy guitar riffs comparable at times to Lenny Kravitz and Jimmy Hendrix. Dani Howard Dani started learning drums at 5 years old and wrote her first song a the age of 9. Dani won the opportunity to have her original music set for string orchestra and further perform her songs live at the renowned YRock Charity “CLOCK” Concert alongside the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong representing UNICEF. A singer, songwriter and composer of many styles including POP Rock and R&B as well as playing Grade 8 standard piano and cello has earned Dani and YRock POP Award for Best Original Music Self-taught guitarist and bassist Dani is the real one-girl band. Icarus Flight Plan This band defies explanation. Peter Park & Charles Wang Newly formed acoustic and beatbox duo with a clear Craig David and Justin Timberlake influence, skillfully turn out covers with originality and style. Delivering refreshing and harmonious vocals, Peter and Charles do it all without the support of a backing band. Scarlett Lewis & Fatal Opera AKA Danielle Spencer met Ash Pritchard three years ago. They started to perform together – using Scarlett’s music- for the last Rockit Festival in the acoustic area. Scarlett moved away to explore LA for a few months and since she came back to HK she has been jamming and putting together new music.’ Scarlett has been influenced by every piece of music she’s ever heard, even the bad stuff, her music and vocals are melodic and heartfelt and the influence of indie and pop rock music is evident in her original works. Scarlett was introduced to music through a youth project and as a result will introduce her very own trio project of female vocalists at JAM “Fatal Opera” featuring Saxby Rose Macalister, Fiona Mak and Izzy Day. 4 ate 5 Influenced by the pop/punk culture of the early years of the 21st Century, their songs reflect their experiences growing up as third-culture kids (British passports, home in Tokyo, American school) and watching visiting bands on Asian tours as well as home-grown Japanese bands such as Oceanlane. They found their groove from Blink 182, Four Year Strong and Zebrahead. 4 ate 5 have performed in clubs around Tokyo including Pink Noise, Edge and appeared on a local radio show in Yokahama in June 2008. VINYL From the small town of Barrhead, near Glasgow, making music for the fun of it, this young 4-piece band from Scotland gets set to rock Hong Kong rhythmically and loud. Gigging in Edinburgh and Glasgow over the last year, Vinyl quickly played their way to the finals of YRock Scotland’s battle of the bands to become a hot property in Scotland and one not to miss. Influenced by music both old and new, the band has managed to produce a hard rock sound with an aggressive pop edge. Vinyl is currently putting together an EP in prodigious studios with some of the most experienced artists including Thomas McNiece from El Presidente.
Illegal Immigrants After gaining a secure reputation by performing at Lion Rock and winning, Illegal Immigrants began composing songs. This led to the creation of original fan favourite, “The End That I’ve Got”, Illegal Immigrants also have a reputation of playing a variety of popular covers from “Mr Brightside” by the Killers, Fallout Boy’s “Dance Dance” to “Beat It” by Michael Jackson Gaining more fans at YRock EDGE gigs, Illegal Immigrants went on to win their section at the 2007 Warehouse teenage band competition with “Nothing But Pain”. This song also earned them the opportunity to have it set for string orchestra and to further perform live at the renowned YRock Charity “CLOCK” Concert alongside the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong representing Suicide Prevention Services. Cho Chuk Mo Turn back the clock, close your eyes and a t times you will hear remnants of Talking Heads, clad like the madhatters tea party, this is no dream but ChoChukMo. An energetic young band of local artists with 80’s influenced originals packed full of skillful changes and inimitable vocals, ChoChukMo break the el screamo mold of HK bands by adding flavour to the past and delivering a modern day performance.
